Cnet

CNet is a community network. We have been in existence since 1992 running government empowerment programmes. We became an independent social enterprise in Oct 2007 – with all of our income derived from contracts or tenders. We aim to develop the capacity and skills of people (particularly those who are deprived for whatever reason) so that they can identify and meet their own needs, engage with public decision – making and participate more fully in society. We also promote urban or rural regeneration through a variety of different means – education and training, supporting environmental, educational, recreational and other activities. Our core values are fairness, and ensuring equality of opportunity for all.

We manage grants on behalf of statutory bodies to better enable them to deliver their services through a grant-based programme – so we understand commissioning and the requirements of funders to monitor and evaluate their work. In 2009/10 the grants we distributed amounted to over £700,000. We also run community development and active citizenship programme to develop the capacity of communities to do things for themselves but also understand better how to make a difference in their communities. We run these in three neighbourhoods across the district. We run the Bradford Assembly and support the work of the voluntary and community forums which work with the partnerships across the district.

We can help groups who have received a grant or contract to develop the project from start-up. This could include understanding what monitoring is, and how you can provide this. As some of this will be reporting on how you have spent the money we can help you set up simple financial systems at the beginning. We can help you evaluate your projects, and identify the evidence that will enhance your reputation with funders. This will also be useful for marketing and promoting your group.
